Hi Folks, OE Folders
Column Do you use Outlook
Express for all of your e-mail needs? I know a lot of you do (myself
included), so I thought this little tip would add the perfect touch to
today's newsletter! So, tell me, when you're using Outlook Express, do you
usually have the Folders column on display? You
know, the list of all the folders you use for your e-mails, such as the
Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Drafts, etc. Those are there to
help you keep your e-mail organized and I don't know about you, but I
think they are a huge help! Now, what would you
do if you lost that column? What if it just happened to disappear? Would
you go crazy? I know I would, because I depend on those folders to keep
all of my e-mail straight and in line. Well, before you go too ballistic,
there's a very easy way to get the Folders column back. Here's
how! In Outlook Express,
in the far left corner, the word "Inbox" is written in big
letters and it has a little arrow next to it. If you click that arrow, all
of your folders will show up for you. Now, also in that window, there's a
little push pin
icon. If you click on that, the Folders column will come
back and stay permanently. It looks like this: If you don't click
that push pin, the column will go away as soon as you click on something
else. So, if you lost your e-mail folders and you want them back, use this
method to keep them forever. Yes! ~ It's Friday,
it's Friday! Make sure you keep reading to learn all about encryption and
how it can keep you fully protected, find out how to easily do one key
pasting in MS Word and learn all about safely removing adware from your
computer system. Also, be sure to check out the Friday Funnies for your
daily laugh and as always, don't miss out on Amanda's Cool Site of the
Day. Enjoy and have a great weekend, everyone! : ) Q: A: Okay, so, first of
all, what is encryption? Well, it is the process of coding or scrambling
information so that it can only be read by someone who knows the correct
decoding key. Encryption is used a lot on secure Web sites and other data
transfer programs. In other words, encryption stops anyone who is not
supposed to read certain information from actually having access to it.
For example, if you were to enter an unsecure site and a third party saw
some of your information, they would be able to read it if you didn't have
your encryption enabled. Otherwise, they would be able to see everything.
It's always safer to do things over an encrypted line. So, in regards to
using a WiFi router, it's best to have your line encrypted. WiFi signals
are basically radio waves and they can be picked up by any receiver
without you ever knowing it. The receiver doesn't have to be connected to
your router in order to gain access to your system. If you don't use
encryption, all of the data you transfer over your computer is sent in a
plain text format and it can and probably will be read by anyone who is
interested. When it comes to your
wireless connection, it's just simply best to use every form of protection
you can get. Along with having a personal firewall and an antivirus
program on your computer, it's smart to use closed networks, address
limitations and of course, encryption. There are a couple
types of encryption, including WPA and WPA2 (WiFi Protected Access).
There's also WEP, but WPA is much stronger and it's newer. With WPA, your
encryption key changes with every session, so it keeps your system much
safer. To learn more about the different types of encryptions and how to
set them up for your system, you can read this tip. Let's raise a toast to your wireless
safety! ~ Have a
