How to set Flags in Outlook Express
BJ asked. I attended a SCSCC seminar recently about how to use Outlook Express,
and one thing that was demonstrated was how to set "Flags". I see the Flag icon
in the column headings but I don't see how to turn the Flag on and off. When I
select an email by highlighting it then I click on the Flag nothing happens.
Lets answer this question for both Outlook Express and Outlook as I know there are a few Outlook users out there.
First of all, what are Flags in OE and what do they mean? They can mean whatever you want them to mean. They are simply a visual reminder that the message is important to you and you can click on the Flag Column Header to sort your messages so that the flagged items are at the top or bottom of the list. To set a flag, simply select the message that you want to flag. Next, click on the Message Menu and then click on the Flag Message menu item. You will see a red flag appear for the selected message. You can select multiple messages and flag them all at the same time. To clear a flag, repeat the procedure and you will see that there is a check mark in from of the Flag Message menu item. Click it again to clear the check mark and the flag.
Outlook is a horse of another color. In outlook, you can set different color flags and you can even set reminders. See the RELATED LINK which explains it very nicely. Basically you right click on the message (or multiple selected messages) and then click on Follow Up. You will see different colored Flags and a Reminder option.

I hope this helps!
